2022 Quality Improvement

The 2022 MSQC Quality Initiatives have been designed to continue and expand the work from previous years’ surrounding care pathways and pain management. Involving the multidisciplinary team in the planning, doing, checking and acting, promoting the implementation of evidence-based best clinical practices, and decreasing opioid prescribing with the use of multimodal medications are themes for the projects. The links below pertain to 2022 Quality Initiatives overall, followed by the details for the individual projects.

Option A: Hysterectomy Care Pathway

The focus of this project is to continue the work toward the implementation of the MSQC Hysterectomy Care Pathway, improving the care of patients undergoing elective hysterectomy surgery. We hope that this project will inspire multidisciplinary discussions to standardize, document and drive implementation of best practices at each hospital, ultimately improving Hysterectomy patient care.

Option B: Abdominal Hernia Care Pathway

The focus of this project is to continue the work toward the implementation of the MSQC Hernia Care Pathway to improve care of patients undergoing abdominal hernia surgery. We hope that this project will inspire multidisciplinary discussions to standardize, document and drive implementation of best practices at each hospital, ultimately improving patient care.

Option C: Colorectal Cancer Surgical Quality Measures

The focus of this project is to continue to improve performance on evidence-based quality measures for cancer patients undergoing surgery for colorectal cancer. We anticipate this project will promote high-quality treatment to improve short- and long-term outcomes.
